Are you an early career Clinical Psychologist looking for a role that will genuinely invest in your development? This is a structured development post with a defined pathway to Senior Clinical Psychologist. You will work at our hospital in Baldock, either on a part time (30 hours) or full time (37.5 hours). The working hours are 9am to 5pm.
You will join a friendly, skilled and enthusiastic psychology and therapies team within a vibrant multidisciplinary team, delivering a comprehensive therapies programme to inpatients with a wide range of mental health needs.
Main duties of the job include:
- Providing high quality specialist psychology services to in-patients at the hospital who present with a wide range of complex mental health conditions, as well as physical health needs.
- Working as part of the multidisciplinary team (Psychology; OT; Psychiatry; Nurses; other specialities).
- Providing highly specialist psychological assessment and intervention while working collaboratively with colleagues from other disciplines, agencies and carers.
- Being clinically responsible to a Head of Psychology and Therapies Clinical Psychologist who will have clinical oversight of all work and service delivery.
- Working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team while observing the Company policies and procedures.
- Providing support to Assistant Psychologists and trainees.
- Utilising research skills in audit, service development and research relevant to the post.

Person Specification:
- Have a postgraduate qualification in Psychology recognised by the British Psychological Society / HCPC, which enables you to practice at a qualified level e.g: Doctorate in Clinical / Counselling Psychology.
- Live registration or eligible for immediate registration as a Practitioner Psychologist by the HCPC.
- Have sound knowledge and understanding of a wide range of mental health conditions and personality disorder.
- Experience of working in a psychiatric inpatient unit.
- Experience in using psychometric tools.
- Experience of working with adults and older adult patients with presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity.
- Experience of working with people who present with behaviours of concern; PBS knowledge is desirable.
- Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to patients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues.
- Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
