Overview
In this role you will join ENHT’s hepatology team at the Lister Hospital, contributing to the ongoing development of the liver service. You will work within a collaborative, cross-site environment to deliver inpatient and outpatient hepatology care, including specialist clinics and registrar teaching. The post emphasizes leadership, innovation, and improving patient outcomes through multidisciplinary collaboration and service transformation. A strong focus is on training, governance, and maintaining high standards of care in a patient-centered Trust.

Responsibilities
- Provide inpatient hepatology support across the hospital (ED, AMU, ITU) and on-call for upper GI endoscopy and ward cover
- Deliver outpatient hepatology services and specialist clinics (viral hepatitis, post-transplant, MASLD, cirrhosis)
- Contribute to registrar training and CNS-led clinics; participate in fibroscan services
- Collaborate with Royal Free liver unit for tertiary hepatology support
- Support service leadership, governance, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Participate in surgical and medical MDTs and help develop local liver services
- Engage in teaching and supervision of trainees and junior staff
- Support quality improvement and audit activities to uphold best practice
Key requirements
- Entry on GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT; GMC registration with licence to practice or eligible for Specialist Register
- MRCP or equivalent qualification
- Broad range of hepatology experience; competence in diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy
- Experience as a Locum Consultant; supervision of undergraduates and trainees; involvement in research/publications
- Demonstrated engagement with clinical governance, appraisal/revalidation, and ongoing professional development
- Up-to-date practice in line with GMC Good Medical Practice
