Overview
In this role you contribute to neurodevelopmental assessment within a multidisciplinary CAMHS team, focusing on autism and ADHD. You will be involved in assessment, formulation and diagnostic decision-making for school-aged children and young people, collaborating with clinicians across psychology, psychiatry, nursing and therapy professions. The post offers progression toward Band 8a and emphasizes leadership, supervision and service development within a regional NHS Trust. Responsibilities
- Conduct neurodevelopmental assessments for autism and ADHD and differential diagnoses
- Contribute to complex formulation and diagnostic decisions
- Provide feedback to families and other agencies
- Lead or contribute to supervision and clinical governance within the service
- Support service development, evaluation, and organisational change
- Travel to venues across County Durham and Darlington to conduct assessments
- Engage in trainee supervision and contribute to teaching and training within the team
- Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, nurses and therapists
Key requirements
- Experience with autism and attentional difficulties in children/young people
- Sound knowledge of diagnostic assessment processes for autism/ADHD
- Experience with administering standardised assessments; familiarity with neurodevelopmental tools desirable
- Ability to contribute to complex formulation and feedback to families and other agencies
- Skills for supervision, service evaluation and responding to service development and change
- Willingness to travel across County Durham and Darlington
- HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist
- Trainable in clinical supervision and care coordination
- Current status facing end of training in Clinical/Counselling Psychology or equivalent for eligible applicants
