This is an exciting new post created to offer clinical leadership and expertise to 2 community CAMHS teams in Tameside and Stockport. The post involves offering expertise in working with children and young people presenting to CAMHS with a moderate to severe mental health need and other complexity around neurodiversity and/or a Learning disability.
Main duties of the job:
- To provide guidance and support to clinical staff in the management of complex cases.
- To provide guidance and support on relevant legislation.
- To be responsible for the development and maintenance of effective clinical pathways between CAMHS and other services.
- To provide additional leadership and guidance to other team members in risk assessment, risk management and positive problem solving and lead on debriefs following incidents.
- Develop confidence and competence within the team for managing complex clinical cases and issues.
- To take a lead role in the provision of clinical leadership and structured clinical supervision to the team.
- To lead on and ensure that the team undertakes appropriate and in-depth assessments and ongoing intervention, and undertake the duties and responsibilities of an active lead case manager role.

Job responsibilities:
- To provide clinical leadership, support and supervision to clinical staff.
- To support an identified team of practitioners with advice and guidance on the management of complex clinical cases.
- To work as an integral part of the CAMHS Service which will include carrying a small complex caseload.
- To participate in the extended working hours as required by the needs of the service.
- Maintain consistency and quality of care for all service users under the care of CAMHS and support effective and timely discharge.
- Support safe, efficient and effective high quality transitions in and out of CAMHS.
- Ensure the team works in a collaborative manner with other agencies and partnerships across the service.
- To ensure that clinical standards are monitored and evaluated, and ensure both they and the team provide care of the highest quality to patients.
- To be a visible and pro-active clinical leader and role model within the teams.
Person Specification:
Education/qualifications:
- Essential: Registered professional Nursing/Social Work/Occupational Therapist. Degree or Diploma in a professional qualification. Evidence of post registration additional training and/or experience to Master's level.
- Desirable: Master's degree level.
Experience and knowledge:
- Essential: Significant experience of leadership and proven track record of managing groups of staff and/or teams. Successful management and control of substantial and complex resources. Evidence of improving service quality. Successful track record of prompting, leading and implementing change programmes that drive up standards and service performance. History of holding responsibility and accountability for clinical decisions and empowering clinicians to make difficult clinical decisions. Evidence of high levels of competence with written documentation. Evidence of achieving high standards regarding CPA.
- Desirable: Personal experience of mental health or experience through caring. Proven track record of successful strategic thinking. Experience of leading on audit and/or research activity related to clinical practice.
Skills and abilities:
- Essential: Demonstrate risk management skills. Resource management - the ability to develop team and individual key strengths through clinical and professional supervision. Ability to work in a pressured environment and manage competing priorities. To be able to lead the team effectively in team settings. Competent in IT systems and their use. Demonstrates behaviours in line with the PCFT Management Behaviour profiles. Evidence of commitment to developing a culture of care and compassion. Support others in understanding of young people and children's mental health needs and how these can be addressed in their work.

Work Related Circumstances:
- Essential: Requirement to regularly travel round different Trust sites. Contributes towards achieving national standards regarding CPA documentation. Make sure own actions reduce risk to Health and Safety. Perform hand hygiene to prevent the spread of infection. Minimise and deal with aggressive and abusive behaviour.
