Overview

In this role you will lead the Education and Training team within Pharmacy at MPFT, driving continuous learning and workforce excellence. You will partner with the Department Head of Pharmacy Digital Improvement & Innovation to harness digital tools that transform patient care. You will foster a research-driven culture by collaborating with stakeholders to influence practice and deliver high-quality, patient-centred care. The position sits at the intersection of education, research and innovation within an ambitious NHS Trust focused on development and collaboration. You will work with cross‑functional teams to shape the future of the service.

Responsibilities

  • Support and develop the Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation workforce to deliver high-quality pharmaceutical care across health and social care settings
  • Provide Medicines Optimisation advice to the Children and Families Care Group focusing on value programs using medicine, finance and patient-level data to reduce inappropriate use and waste
  • Support and develop the governance infrastructure for medicines safety and assurance to the Director
  • Assist in transitioning the department to a research and innovation–driven model with stronger links to local HEIs
  • Play an active role in the Trust's Research and Innovation Department identifying collaboration opportunities and partnerships to support innovation-led aims

Key requirements

  • Masters degree MPharm (or equivalent)
  • UK registered pharmacist with extensive post-registration experience in relevant sectors in UK with no GPhC restrictions
  • strong numerical, analytical, critical reasoning and problem-solving skills
  • evidence of management qualification or equivalent experience
  • Desirable: Supplementary or independent prescriber; understanding of research/evaluation methods including mixed methods and ROI tools
