In this role you will deliver a comprehensive Community Paediatrics service across the London Boroughs of Merton and Sutton, with cross-site collaboration at QM hospital. You will contribute to strategic planning and service development while providing expertise in neurodevelopmental and safeguarding paediatrics. The position supports flexible working and offers the chance to develop a special interest aligned with departmental needs. You will work with multi-disciplinary teams to improve outcomes for children and looked-after children.
Responsibilities
- Provide a comprehensive clinical service in paediatrics and neurodisability
- Comply with GMC Good Medical Practice and maintain patient confidentiality
- Follow the attached job plan in agreement with Clinical Director
- Manage resources responsibly and be accountable to Medical Director
- Attend corporate induction and mandatory training
- Maintain personal and professional development (CME/CPD)
- Advise on local, regional, and national planning of clinical services
- Participate in Clinical Governance, including audits and research where appropriate
- Engage in annual appraisal and job planning reviews
- Deliver educational activities and supervise juniors in line with GMC guidance
- Contribute to safeguarding, looked-after children medicals, and service triage
- Support EHCNA processes and other department guidance
- Ensure safeguarding and child protection processes are upheld
- Participate in governance and policy implementation across the Trust
Key requirements
- GMC-registered medical qualification
- MRCP or equivalent (essential)
- Community paediatric experience (essential)
- Management training or exposure (essential)
- Supervision of postgraduate trainees (essential)
- High standard clinical skill in paediatrics and neurodisability (essential)
- Safeguarding level 3 training (essential)
- Experience in developmental disorders and autism spectrum disorders (essential)
- Teaching experience with undergraduate/postgraduate trainees (essential)
- Ability to apply research findings to clinical problems (essential)
- Ability to supervise junior doctors (desirable)
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals (desirable)
