Overview
In this role you will bring advanced nurse endoscopy skills to a supportive colorectal team, delivering endoscopy and outpatient care across the Trust. You will support cancer pathways, triage referrals, and contribute to training under JAG guidelines. The role combines clinical expertise with MDT collaboration and education, aiming to maintain high-quality care and patient experience. It offers variety, training opportunities, and the chance to shape endoscopy practice within a leading NHS trust.
Responsibilities
- Work across endoscopy and outpatient services on a Trust-wide basis
- Provide Trust-wide outpatient clinics for cancer/benign patients
- Offer cover for colleagues within own clinical expertise
- Collaborate with the MDT
- Contribute to core specialist endoscopist training for nurses and medical staff (JAG guidelines)
- Support the 2ww cancer pathway by triaging and directing referrals
- Assist with follow-up scans/biopsies and patient navigation through the pathway
- Possibly deliver training in endoscopy and related areas
- Ensure knowledge of Faster Diagnosis Standards and related documentation
Key requirements
- 1st level live NMC Registration
- Degree in nursing
- Formal endoscopy qualification (JAG accredited and/or HEE Accelerated Clinical Endoscopist Training)
- Non-medical prescribing course
- Evidence of an advanced communication course
- Experience of clinical expertise in colorectal disease
- Experience as a senior nurse in colorectal-related area
- Experience of breaking bad news
- Experience of audit
- Experience and knowledge of the BCSP National programme
- Valid driving licence (or lease vehicle)
