We are offering an opportunity to apply for a Salaried GP Position at Island City Practice (ICP). We require 4-8 sessions and offer competitive remuneration rates. Our practice aims to be Innovative, Caring and Professional.
ICP is a friendly and supportive environment for GPs to practice safely and effectively with a manageable and sustainable workload. The Practice has embraced a Modern General Practice approach that effectively triages demand and embraces care delivered by a multi-professional team.
Main duties of the job include:
- A dynamic mix of chronic and acute work, using Anima alongside SystmOne for our triage system.
- Working in small GP teams and holding personalised lists to balance continuity of care with the stability of a larger practice.
- Being part of a multidisciplinary Triage Team, including GPs, Advanced Nursing and Paramedic Practitioners for same day care.
- Running a highly organised nurse-led chronic disease service and offering excellent Treatment room care.
- Collaborating with a fully developed PCN ARRS team including Clinical Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Social Prescribers, First Contact Physiotherapy, Mental Health Facilitators, and an Occupational Therapist.
Island City Practice is an innovative, friendly and forward-thinking surgery located in the Historic Naval City of Portsmouth on the South Coast. Our list size is approximately 37,000 patients. We are a training practice and work from three modern purpose-built sites in central Portsmouth.
Job Responsibilities:
- Undertaking a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions, and dealing with queries and correspondence in a timely fashion.
- Making professional, autonomous decisions regarding presenting problems.
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
- Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients.
- Providing counselling and health education.
- Admitting or discharging patients and referring to other care providers as appropriate.
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes.
- Collecting data for audit purposes.
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
- Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary whenever clinically appropriate.
Person Specification:
- Experience: Recent experience of working in general practice in the UK. Commitment to and experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary and skill mixed team environment.
- Skills & Abilities: Understanding the health and social needs of a local practice patient population. Committed to personal and professional development. Excellent verbal and communication skills.
- Qualifications: Fully qualified GP with GMC registration and licence to practice.
