Overview
In this role you will be the first point of contact for patients at Wellington Medical Centre, delivering a calm, friendly experience both in person and on the phone.
You will support a wide range of admin tasks and assist the multidisciplinary team to ensure smooth patient flow, registration, appointments, and prescriptions.
You’ll work across administrative duties with a focus on confidentiality and high-quality service.

Responsibilities
- Assist patients via telephone or in person in an efficient, caring manner
- Be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, maintaining a calm, friendly image
- Record accurate patient details and forward inquiries promptly to relevant personnel
- Make and manage appointments using the practice’s system
- Process repeat prescription requests according to policy
- Explain registration procedures to new/temporary patients
- Open and secure premises at start/end of day and ensure necessary controls for confidentiality
- Maintain accurate records and assist with statistics and reporting as required
- Collaborate with Doctors and other staff to support patient care and smooth operations
- Provide cover for colleagues when needed and participate in team and external meetings
- Key requirements
- 4 GCSE (or equivalent) Maths & English
- Experience in a front-line, customer-facing role
- Good interpersonal and telephone skills
- Ability to use Windows applications and operate computer systems
- Desirable: EMIS Web experience, knowledge of medical terminology
