Overview
In this role you lead the Solihull Wheelchair Services team within the NHS-commissioned service, guiding clinical direction and service delivery. You will work in a multidisciplinary environment to deliver safe, effective, person-centred wheelchair and seating care. You’ll manage a highly specialised caseload and contribute to service development, training and governance in a values-led organisation. Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and expertise to the Wheelchair Service and collaborate with service users, families, carers and MDTs
- Supervise junior staff up to Band 6 level and cover Clinical Lead duties when needed
- Autonomous management of a highly complex caseload with emphasis on mobility, posture and pressure care assessments and equipment provision
- Deliver triage, duty activities, clinical interventions, documentation and handover in line with service standards
- Ensure safe clinic environments and uphold safeguarding of children, young people and vulnerable adults
- Liaise with referrers and local services; maintain links with external organisations and community sectors
- Participate in leadership of the clinical team, monitor performance, and contribute to policy and SOP development
- Coordinate clinics in community/school settings and communicate with stakeholders to enable joint working
- Promote MDT collaboration, use outcome measures and support Personal Wheelchair Budgets (PWB) where eligible
- Provide clinical supervision to staff to meet HCPC requirements and support professional development
Key requirements
- BSc or Diploma in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy
- HCPC registration
- Enhanced DBS clearance
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to drive Ross Care vehicles
- Post-registration experience with long-term and deteriorating conditions
- Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office) and effective written and verbal communication
- Moving and handling competence and risk assessment experience
- Knowledge of mobility/posture equipment and safeguarding procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
