Overview
In this role you will provide high‑quality outpatient and inpatient neurology care at MMUH, contributing to a broad and integrated service. You will work with a supportive, multidisciplinary team and engage in teaching, audit, and research to advance neurology and neurophysiology. A subspecialty interest—epilepsy is desirable—will help shape future service development. You will be part of a growing neurology service within a single-site acute care model, collaborating with regional partners to improve outcomes for a diverse population.
Responsibilities
- Provide outpatient and inpatient neurology care at MMUH and associated sites
- Support specialist clinics and contribute to neurology/stroke on-call rota
- Teach undergraduates and trainees; contribute to audit, clinical governance, and research
- Collaborate with neurophysiology, stroke teams, and regional colleagues; participate in multidisciplinary meetings
- Engage in service development and embedding new technologies/treatments in Neurology and Neurophysiology
- Work across SWB Trust sites as models of care evolve; contribute to shared care within Neurosciences Unit at Queen Elizabeth Hospital
Key requirements
- Entry on the Specialist Register in Neurology or CCT expected within 6 months
- MRCP or equivalent
- Desirable: Higher Degree
- Clinical training and experience equivalent to CCT in Neurology
- Special interest that complements existing consultants (MS, Epilepsy, or Movement Disorders)
- Organise and prioritise workload effectively
- Experience of conducting clinical audit
- Ability to teach clinical skills to medical and nursing staff; formal teaching training desirable
- Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical problems; awareness of specialty developments
- Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practise
