Overview
In this role you will deliver advanced Cardiac MRI imaging (CMR) for elective outpatients and inpatients, while fulfilling on-call duties. You will work within the Cardiology team at MMUH and other sites, contributing to clinic coverage and ward rounds. The post supports the Right Care Right Here programme and aims to improve waiting times and clinical pathways. You will collaborate with cross-functional colleagues to maintain high-quality imaging services and patient care, with opportunities to shape imaging pathways and services.
Responsibilities
- Perform first-class CMR imaging for elective outpatients and urgent inpatients
- Provide on-call cardiology cover and ward-based support
- Attend and contribute to cardiology clinics and ward rounds
- Manage imaging sessions across MMUH, Sandwell General Hospital and Birmingham City Hospital
- Support outpatient work across sites in line with programme goals
- Collaborate to maintain national maximum waiting times and develop clinical pathways
- Participate in administration and service development activities
- Provide flexible imaging cover and contribute to multidisciplinary team discussions
Key requirements
- Entry on the Specialist Register in cardiology (or expected within 6 months of interview)
- General Cardiology training and ability to manage on-calls and imaging independently
- Full GMC Registration
- Organisation and prioritisation
- Teaching and training abilities
- Clinical audit experience
- Imaging (CMR) fellowship experience
- Cardiac imaging proficiency
- Knowledge of IT systems in cardiology (UNITY)
