Overview
You will drive delivery of large capital projects across the Trust estate, aligning with clinical priorities and governance.
In this role you collaborate with the Hard FM and Capital teams to take schemes from feasibility to handover, applying specialist technical expertise in building, mechanical, or engineering disciplines.
You will manage multiple complex schemes, budgets, and external partners, ensuring safe, on-time delivery within statutory requirements.
This is a pivotal position contributing to a substantial investment programme and improved healthcare environments.

Responsibilities
- Lead feasibility, design and construction of allocated capital projects within the ICS and Trust estate
- Manage projects from inception to completion against objectives, timescales, quality, and budget
- Provide specialist technical guidance in building, technical, mechanical or engineering disciplines
- Support planning and delivery of the capital programme with senior directors
- Oversee project budgets, risks, variances and financial pressures
- Coordinate procurement with Trust colleagues in line with Standing Orders and SFIs
- Manage external consultants and contractors with clear briefs and deliverables
- Provide progress reports on financial, programme, quality and risk information
- Contribute to business case development and future capital investment planning
- Maintain project documentation and records throughout the lifecycle
- Ensure CAD drawings are current and obtain as-built/as-installed drawings
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and Trust policies
- Build relationships with clinical, operational and Estates colleagues and external stakeholders
- Support negotiations with external organisations on behalf of the Trust
- Contribute to strategic development and planning of the Trust’s estate
- Key requirements
- Educated to degree level in Architecture, Surveying, Engineering or a related design/construction discipline
- Strong knowledge of current construction legislation and regulations
- Significant experience managing complex capital schemes and tender documentation
- Experience with Pro Cure 21+22 processes (Desirable)
- UK professional registration (Desirable)
- Familiarity with NHS procedures, guides and documentation (Desirable)
- Excellent project management and change management skills
- Strong negotiating and budgeting abilities
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Evidence of working in NHS or healthcare/public sector (Desirable)
