This role is offered at 37 hours per week, requests to work flexibly and/or part time will be considered, taking into account business needs. Please note the salary will be pro-rata where part time hours are undertaken.

For this role you will need to be able to work at both Dental Centre RAF Shrewsbury and RAF Cosford and must be prepared to travel to and work from dental centres within the region other than their normal place of work if requested.

Main duties of the job: Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) is a vibrant and fast-paced organisation which aims to provide the absolute best primary healthcare to members of the Armed Forces and other entitled personnel.

Our MOD Dentists aim to maximise the deployability of the Population at Risk for whom they are responsible. This is to be achieved whilst complying with General Dental Council standards, Defence policies, Defence Primary Healthcare Standard Operating Procedures and single Service regulations.

Your time & skills will be utilised to provide clinical outputs and work will be directed towards improving and maintaining the dental health and operational fitness of personnel for whom you are responsible.

• Inspecting all personnel for whom they are responsible at intervals in line with The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidelines and providing follow-up treatment as required.
• Providing an occupational oral health assessment, being fully conversant with North Atlantic Treaty Organisation Dental Fitness categorisation and dental input into the Joint Medical Employment Standard for Service personnel.
• Ensuring that contemporaneous notes are recorded on individuals integrated electronic healthcare records for all episodes of care.
• Identify, plan, arrange, supervise, and monitor the training and development requirements of all staff under their line management authority. Ensure timely completion of Training and Development Appraisals in accordance with the Defence Primary Healthcare (Dental) Training and Development Strategy.

Additional Information: All employees joining Ministry of Defence who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a 6-month probation period (unless otherwise advised) effective from the employment start date. Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is BPSS check.
