Overview
In this role you will design and deliver innovative, inclusive teaching for HCPC-registered occupational therapy students, contributing to degree apprenticeship and full-time programs. You will lead and participate in scholarship, RIKE activities and professional practice engagement to strengthen curriculum and academic reputation. You’ll collaborate with course teams and practice partners to reflect contemporary practice and NHS needs, shaping graduates who are practice-ready. Responsibilities
- Design and deliver high-quality, inclusive teaching informed by scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL)
- Lead and contribute to assessment design and feedback, ensuring alignment with learning outcomes
- Provide academic advice and signposting to support student progression
- Manage modules and course activities, coordinating day-to-day issues
- Build external partnerships to support curriculum, employability and opportunities for students
- Provide staff management and contribute to performance development processes
- Lead or contribute to SoTL, RIKE, and research outputs
- Engage in continuing professional development and contribute to academic communities
- Ensure quality assurance and continuous improvement of learning activities and resources
- Contribute to revenue generation and external funding opportunities where appropriate
- Lead or support student recruitment, retention, progression and employability initiatives
- Participate in PDR process and adapt duties to strategic objectives
- Maintain professional and ethical standards within regulatory environments
Key requirements
- HCPC professional registration
- Experience of teaching, training or supervision with diverse student groups
- Well-developed knowledge of occupational therapy theory, practice and standards
- Experience in complex regulatory or professional environments
- Sustained professional development with practice or scholarship activity
- Postgraduate qualification or equivalent professional experience in a relevant discipline
- Good honours degree (UK 2.1 or 1st) or equivalent
- Postgraduate teaching qualification or commitment to obtain one (desirable)
- Experience engaging with external partners to support academic/RIKE activity (desirable)
- Inclusive and engaging teaching across multiple mediums
- Excellent communication (written and verbal)
- Strong teamwork and mentoring ability
- Proficiency with IT systems
- Ability to learn new digital tools and platforms
- Familiarity with digital learning resources and assessment design
