Overview
In this role you will lead vascular surgical care within the Sheffield Vascular Service, delivering both elective and emergency services from the Northern General Hospital. You will join a busy team operating a 14-week rolling rota and contribute to teaching, audit, and service improvement. The post offers opportunities to apply advanced vascular skills and to influence patient care across a regional footprint. Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive vascular surgical care to elective and emergency patients
- Contribute to a 14-week rolling rota and an annualised job plan
- Participate in teaching of medical students and junior doctors
- Engage in audit, clinical governance, and service improvements
- Collaborate with management groups and cross-functional teams
- Support development of endovascular services and regional carotid care
Key requirements
- GMC registration with licence to practise; eligible for registration within six months of interview
- Appropriate higher surgical qualification in vascular surgery (e.g., FRCS, FEBVS)
- Clinical training and experience in vascular surgery equivalent to UK CCST
- Ability to work as an independent practitioner in vascular surgery
- Good oral and written communication
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
- Adaptability and commitment to PROUD values
- Endovascular skills/experience for EVARs and lower limb angioplasty/stenting
- Critical appraisal of literature and evidence-based practice
- Experience in performing clinical audits
