Overview

In this role you will join one of the UK’s largest, academically active gastroenterology services to deliver clinical care across two hospitals. You will work in a 10‑PA plan with a mix of direct clinical care and professional activities while contributing to teaching, research, governance and service development. You will participate in on‑call and acute GI bleeding rotas and support the Consultant of the Day service. This is a chance to influence patient care on a regional scale and advance the division’s innovation and teaching initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a 10 PA job plan including Direct Clinical Care and Supporting Professional Activities
  • Rotational on‑ward/off‑ward model with ward rounds, outpatient activity, and endoscopy lists
  • Participate in GI bleeding and on‑call rotas; contribute to acute take and out‑of‑hours care
  • Engage in teaching, research, clinical governance, quality improvement and service development
  • Contribute to cross‑site governance and development initiatives
  • Support the Consultant of the Day service and multi‑disciplinary team
  • Involvement in training and supervision of medical students and residents

Key requirements

  • GMC registration with licence to practise (full and specialist)
  • MRCP or equivalent
  • Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or within 6 months of interview date
  • Endoscopic experience for 5 years with JAG accreditation
  • Advanced training in IBD OR Nutrition OR Endoscopy
  • Ability to work as an independent practitioner in Gastroenterology
  • Experience in teaching medical students and residents
  • Participation in CME/CPD in the last 12 months
  • Understanding of NHS management systems and ability to work with management groups
  • Experience in clinical audit and service improvement projects
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Teaching and training aptitude
  • Collaboration and cross‑functional teamwork
  • Endoscopy with 5 years of experience and JAG accreditation
  • Ability to critically assess published research and apply it clinically
  • Experience in management and administration within NHS settings
