Overview
In this role you will support the Radiology Physics Group to deliver high-quality Radiation Protection, QA, and technical support across multiple radiology and nuclear medicine sites. You will work with cross-functional teams to enable efficient multisite services and foster continuous improvement in protection and QA standards. The position offers a pathway to contribute to patient safety, device calibration, and QA processes within the NHS Trust and external clients. Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for high-quality radiation protection services to users of x-ray units, radioactive materials, and non-ionising radiations
- Record and report x-ray QA surveys using Section spreadsheets/databases
- Perform complex measurements and calibrations as part of Diagnostic Radiology QA across Trusts and external establishments
- Follow procedures, maintain records, and report non-conformances to senior staff
- Participate in calibration of diagnostic QA viewing monitors and set protocols
- Engage with cross-calibration service on x-ray test equipment
- Assist with unsealed radiation protection services including environmental monitoring, monitor calibrations, and radon surveys
Key requirements
- BSc in Physics or related scientific discipline or IPEM Diploma in Clinical Technology (Band 5)
- Experience of Diagnostic Radiology QA and radiation protection
- Previous work experience in a technical/healthcare setting
- Desirable: Experience of unsealed sources radiation protection
- Desirable: Driving licence and access to car
- Good communication skills (written and verbal)
- Good interpersonal and organisational skills
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities
