Senior Pharmacist - Critical Care

b Overview /b p In this role you will provide specialised clinical pharmacy services within the Critical Care Care Group, collaborating across wards and departments to tailor pharmaceutical care. You will lead on clinical pharmacy services, develop guidelines, and support cost-effective prescribing while ensuring safe drug use and smooth discharge processes. You will act as a clinical role model, supervise staff, and contribute to service development, governance, and research. This is a patient-focused, multidisciplinary position with a strong emphasis on quality, safety and sustainability. /p b Responsibilities /b ul li Deputise for Principal Pharmacist Critical Care when needed /li li Lead and develop clinical pharmacy services across sub-specialties within the Care Group /li li Supervise ward-level staff and promote safe drug use /li li Develop, implement, and audit local prescribing guidelines /li li Audit medicine usage and support cost-effective prescribing /li li Support drug budget management and financial reporting to leadership /li li Ensure seamless pharmaceutical care on discharge and liaise with primary/secondary care /li li Participate in multidisciplinary ward rounds and education activities /li li Contribute to risk management, incident reporting and clinical governance /li li Engage in research, audits and dissemination of results /li li Provide expert pharmacotherapy advice to nursing and medical staff /li li Possibly practice as an independent prescriber where appropriate /li li Coordinate transfer of medicines and information across care settings /li li Educate and train junior staff and students /li li Participate in recruitment and talent development /li li Support homecare optimization and VAT savings where relevant /li li Attend care group financial meetings and collaborate across boundaries /li /ul b Key requirements /b ul li MPharm in Pharmacy and registered pharmacist with GPhC /li li Mandatory CPD to maintain practice fitness /li li Specialist clinical knowledge in critical care or related area /li li Broad pharmacy practice with governance awareness /li li Experience in evidence-based prescribing and clinical guidance creation /li li Ability to provide complex information to varied healthcare professionals /li li Prescribing qualifications or willingness to become independent prescriber (desirable) /li li Leadership and people management skills /li li Financial acumen for budgeting and cost-saving strategies /li li Research, audit and teaching capabilities /li /ul ul li leadership /li li communication /li li collaboration /li li specialist clinical knowledge in critical care /li li evidence-based prescribing /li li drug budgeting and horizon scanning /li /ul
