Overview
As a Consultant Paediatrician with a cardiology focus, you will lead high-quality clinical care for children with cardiovascular needs across NLAG sites. You will mentor junior doctors and medical students, align practice with Trust policies, and contribute to cross-site emergency and neonatal services. This role sits within a regionally connected network, offering opportunities to influence training and neonatal–cardiology pathways. You will shape the service in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver excellent patient care.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-standard clinical services to paediatric patients with cardiovascular needs
- Lead and mentor junior doctors and medical students
- Deliver care in line with Trust procedures and service plans
- Collaborate with cross-site colleagues and multi-disciplinary teams
- Support organizational training needs analysis and education of health professionals
- Contribute to regional cardiac network activities and neonatal pathways
- Participate in safeguarding and continuous service improvement
Key requirements
- MBBS or equivalent
- MRCPCH by examination or appropriate specialist qualification
- Full GMC registration and license to practice
- Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility within six months of CCT
- Successful completion of RCPCH SPIN Module in cardiology or equivalent experience
- Desirable: MD or post-graduate qualification; Certification in Congenital Heart Disease Echocardiography (EACVI)
- Essential: Ability to provide expert clinical opinion across paediatric conditions; ability to take full responsibility for care; ability to prioritize and organize work; willingness to lead multi-disciplinary teams
