Have you got an interest and a passion in Mental Health? We are looking to recruit highly motivated individuals to work across our Adult Mental Health inpatient services. Main duties of the job
Candidate's should hold a current professional registration with a professional body along with a recognised clinical teaching qualification or equivalent clinical mentoring and teaching experience. With a commitment to continual quality and service improvement, you will be responsible for ensuring services provide a progressive learning and development environment for all grades of staff including temporary staff and will ensure a high standard of care delivery through specialist knowledge and skills in clinical practice, providing advice, mentoring, supervision and training across services. You will implement key practice developments and quality initiatives in order to achieve excellence in patient care in partnership with nursing and clinical multidisciplinary teams.
You will provide a Senior Practitioner perspective in discussions with senior medical and clinical colleagues, Heads of Nursing and operational managers in developing a co-ordinated approach to service delivery which is informed by good nursing practice. You will promote and contribute to inter-professional learning activities across services and implement in-house teaching.
The post holder will be responsible for their personal and professional development whilst undertaking this role. The role requires successful candidates to work 5 days per week Mon-Fri.

Person Specification
- Qualifications Essential: Registration with relevant professional body (e.g. NMC, GMC, HCPC, Social Work-England). For nursing professions - Recognised Practice Supervisor and/or Practice Assessor, clinical educator or equivalent. Trained in providing clinical supervision. For other professions - evidence of training in clinical supervision of other staff and able to demonstrate competence in this area of practice in clinical supervision of other staff and/or students/trainees. Equivalent clinical experience to that of a Post Grad Diploma/master's level such as working as a band 6 (or above) in relevant clinical area with significant experience, together with evidence of relevant CPD. Leadership qualification or willingness to work towards. Qualification must be achieved within agreed timescale.
- Experience Essential: Substantial clinical experience of working in relevant specialist area in collaboration with service users, families and relevant others or transferable experience of similar settings and willing to gain knowledge within first 12 months. Experience of assessing and managing risk (harm to self, others and safeguarding). Substantial experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team. Involvement in quality improvement activities. Quality Improvement experience. Evidence of continuous personal development. Extensive experience in a clinical nurse leadership role. Extensive experience providing clinical supervision, mentoring and teaching to healthcare professionals and students. Experience of being involved in the delivering of change and service improvement. Experience of resolving complex and challenging situations in collaboration with other disciplines and agencies.
- Knowledge Essential: Extensive knowledge of current issues relating to health needs of patients in the field of practice, regionally and nationally. Experience of application of relevant legislation (i.e., Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act) in practice. Sound knowledge of principles of nursing and how to apply these in a practice setting. Significant evidenced based knowledge of best practice in caring for patients in the designated field. Good understanding of relevant legislation and guidance (e.g. Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, CPA, Safe Staffing) and its application in practice. Good understanding of clinical governance and its application in practice. Good understanding of Recovery principles and application in practice. Detailed understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice. Detailed understanding of Care Programme Approach and its application in practice. Detailed understanding of Clinical Risk Assessment and Management/Harm Minimisation and its application in practice. Research and development methodology. Understanding of psychological models of care and treatment. The Trust's Quality Improvement System (QIS) (or within agreed timescale).
