Overview

In this role you will provide psychiatric leadership within Salisbury Community CAMHS and help shape a redesigned service for children and young people with complex mental health needs. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to manage risk, assess carers’ needs, and develop services for families. The post combines direct clinical care with professional activities, offering opportunities to influence service development, quality improvement, and teaching. You will join a supportive consultant group at a leading NHS trust, contributing to safe, high-quality care and continuing learning.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and medical input to the team
  • Take responsibility for patients you see and those under supervision
  • Contribute to clinical governance as a team clinical lead
  • Participate in risk assessment and carer needs assessment, and develop services for patients and families
  • Promote a Restorative Just and Learning Culture, participate in safety huddles and investigations, identify practice improvements
  • Support emergencies referred to the team and, where necessary, Mental Health Act assessments
  • Engage in cross-functional collaboration within the Trust’s Key working model
  • Encourage leadership development and protect SPA time for leadership and training

Key requirements

  • Medical degree
  • Full GMC registration
  • Eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register (or Specialist Registrar within 6 months of gaining CCT)
  • Eligible for Section 12 Approval (Mental Health Act) / Approved Clinician or willing to apply
  • Experience of clinical work at SP or consultant level within last 3 years
  • Strong knowledge of Mental Health Act and culturally sensitive practice
