The predicted salary is between 113565 - 150569 Β£ per year.

The appointee will, together with 2 other Consultant colleagues, be responsible for the provision of a comprehensive, efficient, and high-quality clinical Immunology service at Salford Royal Hospital, the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA).

Duties will encompass all aspects of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. An Honorary Contract with Manchester Foundation Trust (Site of the Greater Manchester Immunology laboratory) can be arranged for limited involvement with regional immunology laboratory.

Main duties of the job:

  • Participate in and have a role in maintaining and developing allergy and immunology services, management, and triage of referrals.
  • Participate in maintaining or acquiring accreditation for immunodeficiency and allergy.
  • Conduct weekly clinics for the investigation and management of immunodeficiency and allergy in adults.
  • Supervise and manage the long-term treatment of patients with immune deficiency and allergy.
  • Participate in day-care, supervising immunoglobulin replacement therapy, allergen immunotherapy, and challenge/provocation testing.
  • Advise on the care of inpatients, in consultation with colleagues from other specialities.
  • Contribute to writing and updating clinical guidelines and protocols.
  • Supervise and support specialist nursing team.
  • Participate in training nurses, immunology trainees and undergraduate medical students.
  • Maintain and support continuous quality improvement by achieving and maintaining QPIDS and IQAS accreditation.

Qualifications:

  • Essential: Full GMC registration with a licence to practise (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview).
  • Applicants that are UK trained must also be a holder of a certificate of completion of training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.
  • Applicants that are non-UK trained will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT.
  • FRCPath or equivalent.
  • MRCP or equivalent.
  • Registration on the GMC Specialist Register-CCT or within 6 months of obtaining CCT.
  • Desirable: Evidence of academic excellence in Clinical Immunology - MSc / MD / PhD.
  • Accredited Clinical & Educational Supervision of Medical Learners.

Knowledge, Training & Experience:

  • Essential: Experience in the diagnosis and management of patients with immunodeficiency and allergic disease, consistent with independent practice at consultant level.
  • Experience in supervision of immunology laboratory diagnostic services and the associated quality control and accreditation structures.
  • Interest in postgraduate and undergraduate teaching.
  • Evidence of participation in clinical audit and understanding role of audit in improving medical practice.
  • Understanding of clinical risk management and clinical governance.
  • Interest in pursuing collaborative / individual research.
  • Desirable: Previous teaching experience.
  • Evidence of management training.
  • Previous involvement in service development.
  • Recognition as a trainer on GMC register.
