Overview
In this role you will provide specialist anaesthesia knowledge to a busy acute trauma teaching unit, contributing to the growth and development of the service at Salford Royal Hospital. You will join a collaborative team of anaesthetists and intensivists to deliver high-quality care, including obstetric and regional anaesthesia capabilities. The position supports the Northern Care Alliance's trauma-centred mission and the upcoming Major Trauma Centre development. You will have opportunities to influence trauma outcomes and surgical excellence within a large teaching hospital.

Responsibilities
- Deliver specialist anaesthetic services for general, trauma, obstetric and regional cases within a major trauma setting
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support acute trauma care and patient safety
- Contribute to teaching, supervision, and training of medical learners
- Engage in quality improvement and trauma outcome initiatives linked to the Major Trauma Centre
- Participate in on-call and emergency theatre service provision
- Support management and development initiatives within the department and hospital
- Maintain clinical governance and ensure compliance with NHS standards
Key requirements
- Full GMC registration
- Inclusion on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of interview
- CCT/higher specialist training in Anaesthesia
- Current Advanced Life Support Certification
- FRCA or equivalent (Desirable)
- APLS is essential; ATLS or ETC desirable
- Clinical supervision/training experience (Desirable)
- Team leadership and partnership working
- Ability to cope under pressure
- Flexibility and adaptability to change
- Ultrasound-guided regional anaesthesia (upper and lower limb)
- Anesthesia for general, gynaecological, spinal, trauma and orthopaedic surgery
- Experience with upper GI, bariatrics, CPET, plastics, emergency surgery, neurosurgery and paediatrics
