Overview
Join The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust as a Consultant in anaesthesia with potential interest in critical care or obstetrics. You will be part of a busy, teaching‑focused department serving a wide range of surgical specialties and a modern theatre/ICU complex. The role blends clinical leadership, high‑level anaesthesia, obstetric coverage, and critical care with opportunities to contribute to research and quality improvements. You’ll work with a strong multidisciplinary team in a Trust on a journey to excellence.
Responsibilities
- Deliver anaesthesia for elective and obstetric lists across multiple surgical specialties
- Provide on‑call and out‑of‑hours anaesthetic coverage
- Contribute to critical care management in ITU/HDU and emergency services
- Engage in teaching, supervision, and appraisal of trainees and multidisciplinary staff
- Lead or participate in audit, governance, and quality improvement projects
- Develop or participate in regional anaesthesia and pain management services
- Support training modules and clinical governance activities
- Participate in research and portfolio studies with the Trust’s research team
Key requirements
- FRCA or equivalent
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Full GMC registration and licence to practise
- Eligible for Specialist Register (CCT expected within 6 months or CESR as applicable)
- ARCP completion or equivalent
- Experience in anaesthesia with subspecialty interest in critical care or obstetric anaesthesia desirable
