New Vacancy - due to one of our valued members of staff moving on to a new career we have a vacancy for a Dispenser. Please only apply if you already have an NVQ2 in Dispensing - we currently require a qualified dispenser - please attach a copy of your qualification certificate with your application. This post will be for 32 - 37.5 hours per week. The post holder will work within the Dispensary covering all duties required of a busy rural dispensing surgery. We are looking for a proactive and reliable Dispenser who will become part of a very friendly and efficient team. We are a rural practice of approximately 3600 patients in a beautiful purpose built surgery with its own dispensary. Main duties of the job
- Ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription and wherever there is doubt about the appropriateness of the item, about the dose or labelling instructions to check with the authorising doctor or duty doctor.
- Collect all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient.
- Ensure that all monies received or handled on behalf of the Practice are appropriately stored and a record kept of all financial transactions.
- Endorse all prescription forms as appropriate.
- Promptly forward all invoices and correspondence to the Practice Manager where appropriate.
- Notify the authorising Doctor/Dispensary Lead of any FP10 returns/feedback from the PPA so that any remedial action may be taken in a timely manner.
- Operate an efficient stock control appropriate to the needs of the Practice ensuring continuity of supply for patients and minimising wastage through out of date stock.
- Carry out/assist with dispensary audits.
- Ensure that drugs are stored in an appropriate manner in accordance with the accompanying instructions.
- Ensure and maintain a high level of hygiene and that all dispensary equipment is kept clean and in good working order.
- Ensure that refrigerated items are stored appropriately.
- Maintain full/accurate records of all dispensing transactions incorporating the use of SystmOne as appropriate.
- Any other delegated duties considered appropriate to the post.

Person Specification
- Desirable: As we are a rural practice the need for a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable as access via public services is limited.
- Essential: NVQ level 2 in Dispensing, Good standard of general education, Good standard of IT skills, Excellent communication skills, Ability to work under pressure and without direct supervision, Ability to work in a changing environment.
- Desirable: Experience of working in General Practice is desirable but not essential.
