Overview
In this role you will lead the strategic, professional and operational direction of Urgent and Emergency Care services, including ED, SDEC and UTC, within the Medicine Division. You will shape professional nursing leadership, governance and workforce initiatives across the Trust, collaborating with clinical and operational partners to develop integrated urgent and emergency care pathways. You will drive timely assessment, treatment and onward care, while role-modelling compassionate, visible leadership and coaching colleagues. Your work focuses on improving safety, performance metrics and adherence to NHS standards to deliver safe and sustainable care.

Responsibilities
- Lead strategic and operational stewardship of Urgent and Emergency Care services (ED, SDEC, UTC)
- Contribute to nursing leadership, quality governance and workforce agenda across the Division
- Collaborate with Clinical Director, General Manager, Divisional Chief Nurse and system partners
- Develop integrated urgent and emergency care pathways
- Ensure timely assessment, treatment and onward care within clinical timescales
- Role-model and coach colleagues to demonstrate compassionate, effective leadership
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to meet NHS Constitutional Standards
Key requirements
- Expert knowledge of emergency care quality indicators, operational performance metrics, and patient safety measures
- Experience leading quality improvement and governance in urgent/emergency care
- Knowledge of national urgent and emergency care standards
- Current UK professional registration
- Evidence of senior nursing leadership and ability to work with cross-functional teams
