Overview
In this role you will provide a consultant-level anaesthetic service across three Trust sites, contributing to governance, audits and medical education. The post welcomes a broad range of anaesthetic interests with a special nod to Chronic Pain Management and upcoming opportunities. You will work within cross-site, multidisciplinary teams to maintain timely patient flow and high-quality care. The role includes on-call duties to cover emergency and obstetric services, with opportunities to shape services and education. ACSA accreditation and GMC eligibility anchor the role in a high-standard, patient-centred environment.

Responsibilities
- Deliver clinical anaesthetic services to Trust patients across multiple sites
- Participate in on-call rota for emergency and urgent care
- Contribute to clinical governance, audits, and medical education (including simulation)
- Attend multi-disciplinary and cross-site meetings to support patient flow and service delivery
- Provide advisory support to clinical colleagues and primary care partners
- Support extension of services to GP practices and potentially revise job plans
- Collaborate to meet departmental and Trust objectives
- Provide cover to A&E and acute medicine as needed to ensure timely care
- Attend weekend on-call reviews when required
Key requirements
- Full GMC Registration with Licence to practise
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Anaesthesia (or within 6 months of interview) via CCT or European Rights
- Success in Intercollegiate Specialty Examination or overseas equivalent
- Essential: FRCA (or equivalent)
- Ability to work in a team
- Effective communication with patients, relatives, GPs, nurses and other agencies
- Commitment to Continuing Medical Education
- Clinical training and experience equivalent to UK CCT in Anaesthesia
- Expert clinical opinion across emergency and elective cases
- Sub-specialty expertise
