Overview

In this role you will provide highly specialist psychological assessment and therapy for children and young people with adverse childhood experiences and complex trauma within a multidisciplinary CAMHS Targeted Team. You will contribute to leadership, supervision, and service development while delivering evidence-based interventions (e.g., trauma-focused therapy) and advising colleagues across agencies. The role combines direct clinical work with strategic guidance to improve trauma and attachment outcomes in partnership with social care and schools. Responsibilities

  • conduct highly specialist psychological assessments and therapy for children and young people
  • provide clinical/professional supervision to MDT members
  • lead or be part of leadership teams guiding clinical practice and operational functions
  • offer placements to trainee psychologists
  • support service development and professional development within the team
  • undertake research, service evaluation and audit for the team
  • contribute to CAPA/CYP-IAPT-based service delivery and evidence-based interventions across CAMHS clinics
  • work collaboratively with social care, schools and other partners
  • advise non-psychologist colleagues and professionals on psychological care

Key requirements

  • Post-doctoral training in CBT or other specialised areas of psychological practice
  • Post-registration experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment in CAMHS
  • Experience with complex trauma, ACEs and a range of mental health presentations in children/adolescents
  • Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience in relevant field
  • Experience supervising and teaching / training
  • Knowledge of CAPA and CYP-IAPT (desirable)
  • Knowledge of Child Protection Procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and with families
  • Full driving licence (car driver) and IT skills including Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Current UK professional registration
