Overview
In this role you lead a diverse portfolio of capital projects within the Frimley Health NHS estate, from feasibility through to completion. You’ll work closely with clinical, operational and Estates teams to deliver new builds, refurbishments and backlog maintenance, ensuring budgets, quality and programmes are met. The position supports the strategic development of the estate across the Trust and ICS, offering a hands-on, impact-driven opportunity in a healthcare setting. Responsibilities
- Lead feasibility studies and design development with whole-scheme budget estimates
- Develop project briefs with end users and obtain approval
- Coordinate detailed design with internal and external teams
- Manage projects from inception to completion, on- and off-site
- Monitor budgets, programmes and financial risks with proactive actions
- Provide professional and technical advice on capital projects and estate development
- Identify procurement routes in line with Standing Orders and SFIs
- Prepare technical specifications and tender documents for smaller schemes
- Manage external consultants and contractors and monitor performance
- Build effective relationships with clinical, operational and Estates staff to ensure delivery
- Provide progress updates and formal reports (fortnightly where required)
- Maintain accurate electronic project records and CAD/technical documentation
- Ensure as-built drawings and documentation are kept up to date
- Ensure compliance with legislation, policies, governance and contractual requirements
- Support the Associate Director of Hard FM in delivering the capital programme
- Work flexibly across the Frimley Health ICS patch as required
Key requirements
- Qualification in Architecture, Surveying or Engineering or a design/construction related discipline
- Significant experience delivering complex capital schemes
- Experience writing specifications and tender documentation
- Experience of managing budgets and financial risk
- Strong project management and communication skills
- Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders
- Knowledge of current construction legislation and NHS procedures (Desirable)
- Experience in an NHS or public sector environment (Desirable)
