Overview

Two Consultant obstetrician positions within the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. You will provide daytime obstetric care, participate in on-call rotas, and contribute to service development and governance. The role combines clinical duties with teaching and leadership to enhance maternity care. This is an opportunity to work in a supportive, teaching hospital with a strong focus on patient experience and high‑quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Antental clinic duties and daytime obstetric commitments
  • Labor ward sessions and caesarean surgical lists
  • On-call coverage (non-resident) and hot week rotation
  • Job plan to include governance and teaching roles
  • Manage 42-week workload with SPA time and annual appraisal/revalidation
  • Contribute to development and running of the department

Key requirements

  • Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Must be on the specialist register (or within 6 months)
  • ATSM in Advanced Labour Ward Practice
  • Experience working within NHS
  • Ability to manage common obstetric emergencies
  • Teaching experience (undergraduate or postgraduate)
  • Motivated and enthusiastic team player
  • Strong communication and teaching ability
  • Commitment to high-quality, compassionate maternity care
