Overview
In this Consultant role, you will deliver high-quality neurophysiology services at Royal Preston Hospital, including EMG and EEG sessions for adults and children. You will work within a dynamic team to shape and develop the service for Preston and Chorley, contributing to multi-disciplinary care and ongoing professional development. There is an opportunity to influence intra-operative monitoring and video-telemetry initiatives as the service evolves. The position combines clinical excellence with system-wide planning to improve patient outcomes in a large regional trust.
Responsibilities
- Plan, develop and deliver the Neurophysiology Service for the Directorate in collaboration with colleagues
- Provide direct patient input and coordinate care within Preston and Chorley Hospitals, working with multidisciplinary teams
- Maintain continuous patient commitment and manage leave/off-duty arrangements
- Promote high professional standards through clinical practice and CPD
- Develop specialist elements of the service reflecting priorities within available resources
- Participate in intra-operative monitoring as needed and contribute to service expansion such as video-telemetry
- Support and contribute to the trust’s research and education initiatives as part of the broader healthcare team
Key requirements
- Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice
- MBBS or equivalent
- Substantive posts - must be on Specialist Register (or eligible within 6 months)
- Trained Clinical Supervisor on specialist register for Clinical Neurophysiology
- Wide range of experience including significant work in the area of specialization
- Clinical leadership
- Commitment to audit and improving clinical practice/service development
- Interest in personal development through research and publications
- EMG and EEG sessions
- Intra-operative Monitoring Service
- Video-telemetry development (under consideration)
