Overview
In this role you will provide consultant-level neurology input across outpatient, inpatient and multidisciplinary settings within a regional tertiary neurosciences service. You will work as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team and contribute to teaching, leadership and research while delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. The post offers a balance of outpatient clinics, inpatient care, on-call duties and service development across Lancashire and South Cumbria. You will help shape regional neurology services and participate in education and audit as part of a wider mission to improve patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Provide consultant-level neurology input across outpatient, inpatient and multidisciplinary settings
- Attend and coordinate outpatient clinics at multiple sites including Royal Preston Hospital
- Participate in the neurology on-call rota
- Support inpatient care and investigations via the Regional Neuroscience Unit
- Contribute to audit, clinical governance, service improvement and patient safety
- Support undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision of doctors in training
- Engage in professional development, annual appraisal, revalidation and job planning
- Collaborate in multidisciplinary team working to coordinate regional pathways
Key requirements
- MRCP or equivalent postgraduate general medical experience
- Within 6 months of appointment, gain CCT in neurology or equivalent training leading to specialist register entry
- Desirable: Post-CCT fellowship in Epilepsy or Neuromuscular Disorders
- Evidence of interest in personal development through research and/or publications
