Overview
As a Consultant in Gastroenterology, you will deliver high-quality care at Royal Preston Hospital with in-reach to Chorley General Hospital, contributing to a collaborative, learning-focused team. You’ll balance direct patient care with governance, education, and service development across two sites, while maintaining flexible working patterns. You will lead multidisciplinary collaboration, support training for trainees and students, and help evolve the GI service to meet local priorities. This is a role with clinical impact, education and leadership at scale.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct ward input on Ward 24 at Royal Preston Hospital and cover ward referrals with ACPs
- Support GI in-reach to the Emergency Department and rotation to Chorley Hospital
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, governance, and specialty business meetings
- Maintain high professional standards and drive CPD
- Build links with GPs and community allied health professionals
- Develop specialist service elements reflecting resource priorities
- Support postgraduate and undergraduate education, including endoscopy training and supervising clinics
- Engage in clinical and educational supervision
Key requirements
- Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice
- MRCP
- CCST in General Internal Medicine / Specialist Register entry within six months
- Desirable: MD or PhD
- Evidence of ongoing personal and professional development
- Recognition of work in a specialist GI department
- Ability to perform clinical audit and implement findings
- Ability to take independent clinical responsibility and lead a multi-professional team

- Desirable: JAG accredited Colonoscopist
