Overview
In this role you will provide expert clinical care for immune disorders and allergies within a well-established regional service. You’ll work within the Adult Allergy and Clinical Immunology team at Royal Preston Hospital, with potential cross-site sessions. You are expected to lead and supervise immunology nursing care, contribute to immunoglobulin and therapy programs, and maintain CME to Royal Colleges standards. The position supports regional care for a large population and offers a meaningful chance to shape patient outcomes through multidisciplinary collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical evaluation and management of immune deficiency and allergic diseases in outpatient and inpatient settings
- Supervise specialist nurses and oversee immunoglobulin therapy, subcutaneous immunotherapy, monoclonal antibody therapy, and oral/drug provocation tests
- Coordinate home therapy for immunoglobulin and C1 inhibitor therapies with nursing staff
- Oversee allergen immunotherapy, provocation testing, and immunoglobulin replacement therapy as needed
- Ensure continuity of care through leave cover planning and multidisciplinary collaboration
- Promote high standards of clinical care, patient safety, and ongoing professional development (CME)
- Collaborate with hospital teams and GP services to deliver a regionally integrated service
- Be flexible for occasional sessions at Chorley and South Ribble District General Hospital as required
- Maintain links with clinical governance, audits, and service development initiatives in immunology and allergy
Key requirements
- Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice
- MBBS or equivalent
- Specialist GMC registration (or eligible within six months of interview)
- UK-based training: Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or within six months of award, or evidence of UK-equivalent training for non-UK trained applicants
- Trained Clinical Supervisor with experience in immunodeficiency and allergic disease management
- Experience in diagnosis and management of in-patient, out-patient, and home therapy patients
- Effective communication with multidisciplinary teams
- Good organisational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment
