Overview
In this role you will lead the development and delivery of a PPI strategy for research across the Portsmouth and Isle of Wight NHS Trusts.
You will engage patients, carers and the public, working with research teams to ensure PPI is embedded in all sponsored projects.
You’ll liaise with regional and national PPI groups, promote consistent approaches, and support grant applications and governance processes.
The position sits within the Portsmouth Technology Trials Unit, offering opportunities to shape patient involvement and communication across sites.

Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of a research PPI strategy
- Act as primary contact for Trust-wide PPI activities related to research
- Coordinate all PPI work and ensure PPI is integral to sponsored research projects
- Support PPI input in grant applications and identify suitable PPI representatives as co-applicants
- Provide specialist engagement advice on involving citizens, patients and carers
- Develop processes to ensure PPI engagement within research workstreams
- Collate and evaluate feedback on PPI impact, including PRES survey support
- Collaborate with communications/engagement teams to promote PPI
- Build and maintain external networks to inform and support PPI activities
- Promote best practices and contribute to governance standards for PPI
- Provide PPI training and ensure professional conduct and confidentiality
- Undertake other duties to support departmental operations
- Key requirements
- Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant experience
- Experience with NHS or health-related research management (desirable)
- Good Clinical Practice training (desirable)
- Project management qualification or demonstrable experience (desirable)
- Experience with voluntary/community groups (essential)
- Experience in academic/health service environments (desirable)
- Experience with funding applications (desirable)
