Overview

In this Band 7 role within the Radiological Sciences Group, you support MRI physics and non-ionising modalities at Queen Alexandra Hospital. You work with clinical staff to QA scanners, evaluate equipment, and contribute to safety and training resources. The role offers development toward MR Safety Expert and structured training, with occasional travel to other sites. Flexible working options may be discussed at interview.

Responsibilities

  • QA participation for complex clinical MRI scanners including routine testing and post-repair reviews
  • Equipment evaluation, acceptance testing and commissioning of new equipment
  • Establish baseline parameters and evaluate system performance to optimize diagnostic effectiveness
  • QA measurements for clinical UV (phototherapy) systems
  • Develop and contribute to audits, risk assessments, safety procedures, investigations and training resources
  • Liaise with consultant staff, radiographic, service leads, engineering and nursing to provide specialized MRI, laser and UV physics support
  • Train STP trainees and pre-registration clinical scientists in MRI, UV and laser physics
  • Ensure staff competency in MRI, laser and UV physics with documented training

Key requirements

  • HCPC registered clinical scientist (ideal)
  • Experience in MRI physics (preferred)
  • UK professional registration required for this post
  • Flexibility for travel; driving licence essential in the longer term
