Our mission in Redbridge is to strengthen, develop and support local general practice, to enable the delivery of high-quality care to local people. We are in the fortunate position where 4 of the 5 Primary Care Networks (PCNs) in Redbridge are working together as part of the Redbridge-wide GP federation Healthbridge Direct. We are building teams within and across the PCNs to enable peer support and team working both within and across professions.

Main duties of the job:

  • To provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of foot and lower limb conditions within a primary care setting, improving patient outcomes and reducing hospital referrals.

Job responsibilities:

  • Autonomous assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning for general podiatry practice.
  • General practice clinical skills including use of local analgesia.
  • Broad range of general podiatry assessment and treatment.
  • Wound management, safe use of equipment.
  • Good knowledge of chronic disease.
  • Develop and implement individualised care plans for patients.
  • Manage own caseload independently within GP/PCN setting.
  • Provide care for high-risk patients (e.g. diabetes, vascular disease).
  • Deliver wound care, minor nail surgery, and biomechanical assessments.
  • Prescribe or recommend orthotics where appropriate.
  • Promote foot health, prevention and self-care advice to patients.
  • Work across multiple settings (clinics, GP practices, care homes, patient homes).
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation.
  • Refer patients appropriately to secondary care when required.
  • Contribute to integrated care within the PCN.

Person Specification:

  • Qualifications
  • Essential: Degree in Podiatry, HCPC registration, experience in community or primary care podiatry, ability to work independently, ability to travel to practices, full driving license.
  • Desirable: Experience in diabetic foot care, nail surgery/wound care experience, experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
