Podiatrist (Development Role)

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Podiatrist to join our dynamic team. The role is a development role, leading to a Band 6 Podiatrist role on successful completion of the required training and development of relevant skills within a twelve month period of being in post. The role will involve timely assessment and treatment of a wide range of conditions utilising specialist skill sets and provision of specialist advice. It also involves collaborative working with Acute Services including James Paget University Hospital and Norfolk and Norwich Hospital.

Main duties of the job include:

• Carrying and being responsible for own caseload.
• Assessing, diagnosing, developing and implementing individualised care programmes for patients with complex podiatry presentations.
• Being a source of expertise for ECCH's integrated Podiatry service.
• Accessing imaging as appropriate, either independently or through our MAT's service/leads.
• Ensuring effective communication to enable patients to achieve their maximum potential for self-management.
• Maintaining high standards of communication skills and clinical work, including teaching and supervision of other health professionals, non-registered staff and students.
• Working with Clinical Leads to further develop, in line with evidence-based clinical best practice.

Job responsibilities include:

• Assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of Podiatric care to a variety of patients.
• Providing care in various settings including hospital clinics, health centre community clinics, GP practice clinics, residential homes, and patients' homes.
• Producing individual care packages and providing appropriate foot care education advice.
• Participating in departmental rota for nail surgery and ward rounds.
• Performing diabetic assessment review clinics in GP practices.
• Planning personal workloads for home visits and visits to residential homes.
• Involvement in the provision of Foot Health Education advice to patients, relatives and carers.
• Development of departmental policies and procedures.
• Maintaining and securing stock.
• Following departmental policies and guidelines while making clinical decisions.
• Flexibility to cover for other Podiatrists at short notice.
• Completing the Band 6 competency based learning programme.

Communication responsibilities include:

• Working effectively as a member of the multi-professional team.

• Contributing to departmental meetings.
• Keeping client and staff information confidential.

Health and Safety responsibilities include:

• Reporting accidents, complaints, and defects in equipment.

Person Specification:

• Essential Qualifications: HCPC Registration, Podiatry Degree or equivalent, Local Analgesia Administration Certificate, Evidence of CPD Portfolio.
• Essential Experience: Observational/Student Placement within NHS.
• Desirable Experience: Previous employment as a podiatrist, experience with the elderly.
• Essential Skills and Knowledge: Good verbal and written communication skills, organisational skills, ability to travel, and ability to produce, document, implement and evaluate care plans.
• Personal Attributes: Willingness to work across different sites, ability to work under pressure, responsible and caring attitude, flexibility.
