Overview

In this role you will provide consultant-led ENT care with a focus on advanced rhinology and skull base procedures. You will work within a regional skull base MDT to manage complex sinonasal conditions and tumours, collaborating with neurosurgery, ophthalmology and other specialties. You will support emergency ENT services, teaching, and research while contributing to regional pathway development across the Southwest Peninsula. The position offers opportunities to expand multidisciplinary rhinology and skull base services and to influence service development within a large tertiary centre.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver consultant-led care in rhinology and anterior skull base surgery
  • Provide secondary and tertiary rhinology services including inflammatory disease management and complex sinus surgery
  • Join regional skull base MDT and collaborate with Neurosurgery, Radiology, Pathology, Oncology and nursing colleagues
  • Assess and surgically manage sinonasal tumours and complex rhinological conditions
  • Develop lacrimal services in collaboration with Ophthalmology (e.g., endoscopic DCR)
  • Support multidisciplinary pathways for endoscopic skull base surgery with Neurosurgery
  • Participate in an on-call rota (1:8) for emergency ENT services
  • Support teaching, training, audit, clinical governance, and research
  • Contribute to service development and regional pathway delivery across Devon and Cornwall

Key requirements

  • Full GMC registration
  • Eligibility for entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT or CSER(CP) within 6 months of interview
  • Fellowship in advanced rhinology and anterior skull base surgery (desirable)
  • Experience in rhinology/subspecialty surgery
  • Ability to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
