Overview
In this Clinical Lead role, you will drive the Nutritional Risk Monitoring Clinic within the Plymouth Eating Disorder Pathway, delivering safe, high-quality physical health monitoring for people with eating disorders. You will lead a multidisciplinary team, shape the clinic and its admission pathways, and support service development and governance. Your work will connect with primary care, acute services and partner agencies to ensure person-centred care and improved health outcomes. Responsibilities
- Provide operational, managerial and clinical leadership for a specialist physical health monitoring clinic
- Oversee day-to-day clinic operations and ensure safe, effective care
- Offer expert clinical guidance on physical and mental health risk, safeguarding and care planning
- Lead on shaping and developing the Nutritional Risk Monitoring Clinic and admission pathways
- Support service improvement, clinical governance and staff development
- Collaborate with Plymouth Eating Disorder Service, primary care and acute services for joined-up care
- Monitor quality, contribute to audits and best-practice across the pathway
- Lead on risk assessment, decision-making and escalation to hospital as needed
- Provide supervision and support to staff and promote a culture of continuous improvement
- Work across a 7-day service and adapt to service development needs
Key requirements
- Experience of leading in a mental health or multidisciplinary setting
- Experience of line managing staff and leading quality improvement projects
- Experience in risk assessment and crisis management for patients with complex needs
- Knowledge of clinical observations, physical health assessment and relevant mental health legislation (Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act)
- RMN/Dip HE/BSc Mental Health Nursing with NMC registration
- Significant relevant experience and ongoing professional development
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Empathy and resilience in high-stress situations
- Collaborative and proactive team leadership
- Proficiency in conducting physical observations (weight, BP, pulse, etc.)
- Clinical governance and audit
- Service development and pathway design
