Overview
In this Band 7 CAMHS psychologist role, you will deliver quality assessments, formulations and interventions for children and young people with complex mental health needs. You will be part of a warm, multidisciplinary team and contribute to neurodevelopmental work (ADHD) and care pathways, supported by supervision from a Senior Practitioner Psychologist. You will engage in collaboration with other agencies, support trainees and assistant psychologists, and help drive service improvement and research within the service. The position offers opportunities for training and placements with the University of Southampton, within a mission to place psychology at the heart of care.
Responsibilities
- Provide quality-driven assessments, formulations and interventions for children and young people with complex mental health problems
- Deliver individual and group interventions aligned to service user needs
- Contribute to neurodevelopmental assessments (primarily ADHD) within the Neurodevelopmental Team
- Collaborate with other agencies to develop and implement care plans and facilitate transitions between services
- Help develop and deliver clinical care pathways
- Participate in MDT consultations, supervision, and knowledge sharing
- Supervise and support the development of assistant psychologists and trainees (placement students)
- Utilise research skills for audit, service development and research within the area served by the team/service
Key requirements
- Post-graduate doctoral level training in applied psychology (including psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, two or more therapies, lifespan development) as approved by the HPC
- Professionally registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Professions Council (HPC)
- Current UK professional registration
- Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check clearance
- Experience working in CAMHS or children and young people mental health settings (implied by role)
- Collaborative and team-oriented
