This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly, dedicated, and highly respected team in delivering outstanding, patient-centred care to our local community. The successful applicant will play a key role in supporting these ongoing improvements and helping to shape the future of our services.

You will work within a supportive and welcoming environment where teamwork, professionalism, and continuous development are highly valued. Reporting to the GP Partners and Business Manager, you will help ensure the effective day-to-day management of the Practice. This includes supporting the delivery of contractual obligations to NHS England (NHSE) and maintaining compliance with Health and Safety requirements, Information Governance standards, employment legislation, and Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulations.

Main duties of the job

  • Working closely with the Business Manager and GP Partner, you will support the efficient operation of the Practice and contribute to the delivery of high-quality services.
  • Providing oversight and support for HR processes, staff training, and people management.
  • Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety, Information Governance, CQC requirements, and other statutory and regulatory obligations.
  • Acting as a key point of contact for patient communications and engagement with the Patient Participation Group (PPG).
  • Managing and responding to patient feedback and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
  • Supporting workforce planning, rota management, and staff scheduling.
  • Assisting staff with IT systems, digital developments, and practice-wide change initiatives.
  • Supporting the ongoing development and improvement of Practice services.

Abbeyview Surgery is a thriving semi-rural, part-dispensing practice serving approximately 9,000 patients in Crowland, Lincolnshire. Our multidisciplinary team includes GPs, Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs), Nurses, and Healthcare Assistants (HCAs), supported by a growing range of specialist roles including a Diabetes Specialist Nurse, Physiotherapist, MSK Practitioner, Clinical Pharmacists, Care Coordinator, and Social Prescriber.

Job responsibilities

  • Responsible to the GP Partner and Business Manager.
  • Maintain compliance with all aspects of Health and Safety, Information Governance, employment legislation and Care Quality Commission (CQC) Regulations.
  • Oversee the day-to-day running of the organisation.
  • Provide positive leadership and role modelling through your understanding of Human Resources, strategic planning, and finance.
  • Oversee all aspects of personnel management.
  • Ensure clinics are staffed and organise cover where needed.
  • Ensure the Practice's compliance with the GDPR and FOI along with other relevant legislation and professional information standards.
  • Oversee implementation of new IT systems and procedures.
  • Ensure all job holders across the Practice adhere to their individual responsibilities for infection control and health and safety.
  • Engage with and work with our PPG to improve services of the Practice.
  • Maintain the Practice Website and keep updated with any changes.
  • Provide regular newsletters and Facebook posts to keep patients informed on changes at the practice.

This job description does not include all aspects of the post and as such the Practice Manager will be required to carry out any duties that may be reasonably requested by the GP Partner or Business Manager.

Person Specification

  • Experience
  • General Practice or Primary care experience.
  • Good knowledge using Systmone clinical system.
