Morrab Surgery is looking for a kind and dependable Salaried GP to join our friendly, experienced team in the heart of Penzance. This is a permanent, part-time role offering six sessions per week, although we also welcome applications from two GPs who would like to divide the sessions. We offer 15-minute routine appointments, protected administration and pathology time, a maximum of 15 appointments per session and flexibility around working days.
You will join a supportive multidisciplinary team at a well-established practice that has cared for generations of local families for more than 100 years. We combine the values of traditional, personal general practice with modern clinical standards and sustainable ways of working.
The role includes a competitive, negotiable session rate, six weeks annual leave plus bank holidays, one week's study leave, NHS Pension Scheme membership and a BMA model salaried GP contract. A flexible start date and the potential to explore future partnership are also available.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide high-quality, safe and patient-centred general medical services to our practice population. They will undertake face-to-face, telephone and online consultations, assessing and managing both acute presentations and long-term conditions. Responsibilities will include prescribing and medicines management, reviewing test results and clinical correspondence, making referrals, developing appropriate care plans and maintaining clear, accurate and contemporaneous clinical records.
The postholder will make a fair and proportionate contribution to duty doctor arrangements and home visits, according to the number of sessions worked. They will participate in clinical meetings and work collaboratively with our GP, nursing, pharmacy, Primary Care Network and wider multidisciplinary teams to ensure patients receive care from the most appropriate professional. The successful candidate will also contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement and the ongoing development of the practice. They will be expected to maintain appropriate continuing professional development, appraisal and revalidation, while working in accordance with GMC guidance, practice policies and relevant professional standards.

Job responsibilities
Morrab Surgery is seeking a kind, dependable and enthusiastic Salaried GP to join our friendly and experienced team. The postholder will provide high-quality, safe and patient-centred general medical services to our practice population. They will work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team, contribute to the effective operation and development of the practice and help us maintain excellent standards of clinical care.

Main duties and responsibilities
- Undertake face-to-face, telephone and online consultations.
- Assess, diagnose and manage patients presenting with acute illness, chronic disease, complex needs and undifferentiated symptoms.
- Provide appropriate treatment, advice, health promotion and preventative care.
- Prescribe safely and appropriately in accordance with current guidance, local formularies and practice policies.
- Review and act upon test results, investigations, clinical correspondence and information received from other healthcare providers.
- Refer patients to secondary, community and other appropriate services, ensuring referrals are clinically appropriate and clearly documented.
- Develop and review care plans in partnership with patients, carers and other professionals where appropriate.
- Recognise and respond appropriately to medical emergencies, safeguarding concerns and significant clinical risk.
- Provide home visits when clinically necessary and make a fair contribution to the practices duty doctor arrangements.
- Provide continuity of care wherever possible and support patients to make informed decisions about their health.
- Maintain clear, accurate and contemporaneous clinical records using the practices clinical system.
Teamworking and communication
- Work positively and collaboratively with GP colleagues, nursing staff, the clinical pharmacist, Primary Care Network professionals, community services and the wider practice team.
- Communicate sensitively and effectively with patients, relatives, carers and colleagues.
- Participate in clinical, multidisciplinary and practice meetings as required.
- Seek advice and support when appropriate and provide professional support to colleagues.

Clinical governance and quality improvement
- Deliver care in accordance with evidence-based practice, GMC guidance, NHS requirements and relevant local and national policies.

- Contribute to the development, review and implementation of practice policies, clinical protocols and service improvements.
