Overview

In this role you will join the West Cornwall psychiatry team to provide expert Old Age psychiatry clinical care and leadership. You will work to shape and develop local services, contribute to research, teaching and service improvement, and support junior staff. The post offers structured support for new consultants and opportunities to lead innovations within a supportive, collaborative NHS team. Responsibilities

  • Act as consultant resource for the Coombe complex care and dementia psychiatry service, including casework and advisory support to colleagues
  • Manage, appraise and supervise junior medical staff within agreed policies
  • Undertake administrative duties related to patient care
  • Participate in service and business planning for the mental health service and annual consultant appraisals
  • Attend and contribute to the Trust's academic programme and CPD activities
  • Maintain GMC registration, Section 12 (2) approval, and professional conduct
  • Collaborate with local managers and colleagues to ensure efficient service delivery and medical leadership contribution

Key requirements

  • Recognised Medical Degree
  • Full GMC Registration
  • Inclusion (or eligibility) on the Specialist Register or a Specialty Trainee within 6 months of gaining CCT
  • Section 12 Approval
  • Experience in CPD and inpatient settings
  • Leadership experience in multi-disciplinary teams
