Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments. In line with practice procedures, ensure that patients with no prior appointment but who need an urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner. Explain Practice arrangements and formal NHS requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary/emergency cover and ensure procedures and paperwork are completed. On a daily basis work on Anima triage to ensure prompt responses to patient requests. Receive and make telephone calls as required. Use of the care navigation toolkit to advise. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt delivery to the most appropriate person. Refer repeat prescription requests on to the prescription clerks. Advise patients of relevant charges for private (non-General Medical Services) services, accept payment, and issue receipts/invoices for same when necessary. Enter patient information on to the computer as required. Maintain a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures. Be able to cover all reception positions. Maintain a working knowledge of unfamiliar tasks.About usWe are part of the Wantage PCN in the health centre, working alongside Church Street Practice.
