b Overview /b p In this Band 6 Orthoptist role, you join a skilled, multidisciplinary ophthalmology service to develop your clinical skills across orthoptics and related subspecialties. You will manage a varied caseload within clinics including intravitreal injections, neuro-ophthalmology, and stroke/trauma, while contributing to teaching and service development. You’ll work autonomously with support, delivering high-quality, evidence-based care and helping to train colleagues and students. This role offers a collaborative environment and a chance to influence patient care across multiple sites. /p b Responsibilities /b ul li Manage an autonomous caseload with comprehensive records and evidence-based care /li li Deliver specialist orthoptic services in clinics (orthoptic, paediatric, ocular motility, neuro-ophthalmology) /li li Provide intra vitreal injections and contribute to stroke and trauma services /li li Prioritise onward referrals and coordinate with ophthalmologists for surgical decisions /li li Educate and supervise undergraduate orthoptic students and colleagues /li li Engage in clinical governance, audits and service development initiatives /li li Use outcome measures to evaluate treatment effectiveness and adjust plans /li li Ensure safe working practices, risk management and equipment maintenance /li li Contribute to teaching and post-graduate training programs /li li Support discharge planning and appropriate transfer of care /li /ul b Key requirements /b ul li Degree in Orthoptics /li li HCPC registration /li li CPD at a postgraduate level /li li Experience running single-handed clinics (essential) /li li Knowledge of paediatrics, adults, neuro-ophthalmology (essential) /li li Ability to work independently or in a team and handle pressured environments /li li Flexible working practices /li li Desirable: large teaching hospital experience; involvement in neuro-ophthalmology; pastoral care of students /li /ul ul li Effective communication with patients and families /li li Collaborative team player /li li Adaptability under pressure /li li Orthoptic assessment and treatment planning /li li Ocular motility and strabismus management /li li Intravitreal injection procedures /li /ul
