Overview
In this role you will join the Anaesthesia and Surgical Division to deliver expert anaesthetic care across ROH and Rochdale. You will support a busy surgical service, contribute to obstetric anaesthesia, and participate in teaching and simulation programs. The post emphasizes on-call duties, weekend trauma, and cross-site arrangements to meet service needs. Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive anaesthetic services to The Royal Oldham Hospital and Rochdale Infirmary
- Cover theatre lists during weekdays and contribute to on-call, weekend trauma, and pre-operative assessment clinics
- Deliver obstetric anaesthesia and support a paediatric anaesthetic workload expansion
- Participate in teaching, training of trainees, and ongoing professional development (simulation)
- Collaborate with anaesthetists and intensivists in a multi-disciplinary team
- Occasionally work at other sites as required by service needs
Key requirements
- Full GMC registration
- Inclusion on the Specialist Register or eligible within 6 months of interview
- MBChB or equivalent training and experience
- Wide experience in anaesthesia and management of all aspects of anaesthetics
- FRCA or equivalent (desirable)
- APLS is essential; ATLS/ETC desirable
- CCT or higher specialist training in Anaesthesia
- Current Advanced Life Support certification
- Evidence of engagement in management training (desirable)
- Clear written and spoken English communication
- Teamwork and collaboration
- Commitment to teaching and supervision of learners
- Obstetric anaesthesia
- Ophthalmic regional anaesthesia (desirable)
- Broad experience in all aspects of anaesthesia
