Overview

In this role you will lead and develop a high-quality clinical pharmacy service for CAMHS and perinatal mental health across inpatient, community and hospital settings. You will provide expert clinical input, practise as an independent prescriber, and contribute to medicines optimisation, governance, and education. You will work with MDTs to ensure safe, effective, and cost-efficient care and support service development and research. The position is based at Hopewood Hospital with rotation to other sites and community teams, offering a meaningful opportunity to shape mental health services.

Responsibilities

  • Lead clinical pharmacy services for CAMHS and perinatal mental health inpatients and communities
  • Prescribe within an agreed scope of practice to optimise outcomes
  • Contribute to audits, research, and development of medicines guidelines
  • Develop and deliver in-house training for pharmacists, trainees, technicians and assistants
  • Line-manage a small clinical pharmacy team and mentor learners
  • Provide medicines information, counselling to patients and carers, and second opinion input under Mental Health Act
  • Ensure governance, safety, pharmacovigilance, and adherence to professional standards
  • Support dispensary operations, validation, and documentation
  • Collaborate with MDTs to integrate pharmacy expertise into care
  • Participate in weekend, on-call, and extended hours as required
  • Deputise for the Deputy Chief Pharmacist when needed

Key requirements

  • Master of Pharmacy degree
  • GPhC registration
  • Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma in Psychiatric Pharmacy or Clinical Diploma (essential)
  • Significant hospital pharmacy experience including mental health
  • Experience with CAMHS or perinatal services a plus
  • Non-MM Prescriber preferred
  • Strong leadership and teaching experience (desirable)
  • Independent prescribing experience (desirable)
