Overview
In this senior role you drive strategic leadership and governance for patient safety, safeguarding and public protection. You will partner with the Chief Nurse and senior leaders to shape safety strategies and ensure compliance across sites. The role involves acting as the charity’s lead expert, guiding risk identification, response and learning, and representing the organisation with regulators and system partners. You will work to embed a culture of continuous improvement and compassionate, person-centred care.

Responsibilities
- Ensure robust governance, systems and processes to deliver safe, high-quality care and meet statutory, regulatory and contractual obligations for patient safety, safeguarding and public protection
- Lead development and implementation of patient safety and safeguarding strategies with senior leaders
- Promote continuous learning and improvement, and establish systems to identify, respond to and learn from incidents and safeguarding concerns
- Act as the organisation's lead expert for patient safety and safeguarding, providing specialist advice and leadership across services
- Represent the Charity with regulators, commissioners, local authorities and wider system partners
Key requirements
- Significant leadership experience in patient safety, safeguarding, quality or governance and leading organisational change
- Extensive knowledge of patient safety, quality improvement, safeguarding and public protection legislation
- Master's degree or equivalent level experience and relevant professional registration (NMC, HCPC, Social Work England or equivalent)
- Experience implementing national safety and quality frameworks including PSIRF and safeguarding leadership in health or social care
- Experience working with regulators, commissioners and external agencies; excellent communication and influencing skills
